Holbeach St. Marks Community Fun Day
Saturday 7th August and it was time for the Holbeach St. Marks Community Fun Day with Bakkavor Pizza. The giant Marquee was erected and with the food stall in place and the band stage rigged with more fire power than Glastonbury, Team Challenge Company got to work on setting up all the fun activities around the football pitch.
At 1.30pm we announced the Fun Day open and with Claire organising the Bakkavor Pizza fling contest, it was a fun start to the afternoon events. The first band on stage were the Hound Dogs, a local band going to big places and it was a great pleasure that they were able to perform for us on this Fun Day. They rocked the tent and the party atmosphere got off to a great start. With great Fun Day activities outside, the Assault Course was busy busy busy...the Gladiator Duel was witness battle after battle and for the smaller children, there was face painting, hair braiding and of course, the magnificent Bouncy Castles.
The second act on stage were the amazing Diamond D.G, a local dance group who wowed the audience with fantastic routines and the young dancers got a great reception when they finished. A big thanks to all of them and their dance leader Abbi. This was followed by a very brave young lady called Georgia Curtis, who performed a brilliant Martial Art creative display and showed that there was talent in abundance everywhere you looked.
The main Team Event was next on the busy schedule for the Fun Day and with three teams battling it out for the top prize of £150 it was serious business. The event kicked off with huge cheers from the gallery and the first race of this Fun Day Team Event was Caterpillar Run, in which Diamond Dancers took top spot followed by Animals and The Beast in second and third spots respectively. After a brief rest bite the Bulls Eye Sack Race was next up, and yet another top place place for the Diamond Dancers. After an hour and a half of 
huge competition the winners of this years Bakkavor Sponsored Fun Day Team Event was the Diamond Dancers, scoring 5050 points. Second Place went to Animals with 4900 points , and The Beasts finished in third with 4300 points.
The Fun Day rocked on into the evening with the Fun Casino Night Challenge, where all money raised was to be donated to McMillian Cancer. The bands kept rolling with a fantastic double set from Martians Folly and the evening Hog Roast went down a treat.

The grand prize of the evening was awarded to Big Tony, and as the top gambler he walked away (or looking at the photos, he fell away) with the wonderful LCD TV. In second place was a joint father and son, Team Candler, who took home with a well deserved DVD Player.

The Fun Day was celebrated in style with the last band of the day, Sphere, and with people dancing and singing it was the cherry on top of a wonderful day at Holbeach with Bakkavor Pizza. The fabulous Fun Day would not have been possible without the team at Bakkavor, a fantastic group working to make it all possible! We would like to mention the efforts of Clint, Neil and Claire, thanks for a great event it was a pleasure working with you all and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.
