A entire day of glorious summer sunshine split the trees at the fantastic Piperdam Golf and Leisure Resort, providing the perfect setting for this years wet, wild and wacky Clydesdale Bank Charity It's a Knockout.
Thankfully there was to be no repeat of last years severe weather warning, and the early afternoon start saw 16 nervous teams of talented athletes (used in the loosest sense of the word, of course!) prepare to step up to the challenges of the fabulous day of It's a Knockout entertainment that lay ahead! They had all certainly come dressed for the occasion, with the Jolly Rogers donning the smartest of pirate costumes, Dennis' Menaces displaying the most iconic of outfits, and then there was those gleaming Orange strips of the Findlay's Year of the Orange Team! Oh, and don't forget Dave and those cycle shorts, or a certain vest-wearing athlete who was definitely sponsored by TopMan...! Following some bacon rolls and about a gallon of coffee each, the big kick-off to the It's a Knockout event arrived- let The Games begin!
The It's a Knockout event had been specifically designed to stretch the teams to their limits, with the inflatable zone pitting teams against eachother in big battles on the Gladiator Duel, or in the Theatre of Dreams at the Human Table Football, where there was always a grudge match on offer - especially when Team Aberdeen started chanting! Local Piperdam lovelies The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Team Hillcrest were ready and prepared to mount a serious challenge for the much coveted Team Challenge Company It's A Knockout Winners Trophy, but with a highly trained elite BrightSolid crew present and seriously up for defending their title, it was always going to be an epic battle!
The crazy It's a Knockout Event kicked-off with what has now become our world famous (and beyond) Team Challenge Company warm-up. With the cobwebs dusted off following some rather uncoordinated manoeuvres (especially amongst the Henderson Loggie Super Heroes...we have the video to prove it, David!) the It's a Knockout races began with a bang. It was a close fought contest as Team Cair Scotland, The Randoms, The Oranges and Lemons and all the other competing teams battled it out across the huge range of the Team Challenge Company It's A Knockout entertainment on offer. The mighty Sponge Fling proved to be the most popular, though that is perhaps because it resembled a wet t-shirt contest more than anything else...Big Bad Bob was in his element!
The competition at the It's a Knockout Assault Course was hot and heavy, but no team stood a chance when the Sheperds Team and Captain Rob (whose rumoured use of performance enhancing stimulants is legendary...!) stepped up to the plate. Could The Pirates of the Tayribbean pick themselves up off the ground following a demolition at the Human Table Football, or would The Jazzies drive home their natural fitness advantage and lift the Team Challenge Company It's A Knockout Winners Trophy? There could be only one champion, perhaps the consumption of an extraordinary amount of Highland Spring Water and wet T-shirts a plenty would make all the difference...!
Following big points on the the head to head Roll-a-Ball challenge, and a crazy Finale on the It's a Knockout Sponge Fling, all that was left was to tally up the points an announce the scores...! Despite a valiant effort from the entire team, someone had to walk away with the Wooden Spoon, and this year that honour went to the Dennis' Menaces. With all other positions read out, it was between only two, the incredible Team Aberdeen and last years reigning champions The BrightSolid crew. A sensational victory (by only 300 points) went once again to the BrightSolid Team, who were undoubtedly deserving champions. How sweet it must be to have two Team Challenge Company It's a Knockout Winners Trophies sitting side by side in the office!
A fantastic day of It's A Knockout entertainment had been enjoyed by all at the beautiful setting of Piperdam, it was absolutely tremendous fun for everyone, competitors and spectators alike. A big thank-you must go out to Jackie Campbell from Clydesdale Bank, whose hard work, effort and dedication really made the entire event another really special one. It was great to work with such a crazy bunch of teams from across Scotland, and Team Challenge Company certainly look forward to seeing you all again for the re-match in 2011.
Team Challenge Company...
Thank you so much for the great day out you provided us with, was very much enjoyed.
Your comments kept us laughing and motivated all day, an excellent job by everyone involved.
Had an ace time and can't wait till next year - hope the football will be back :)
Thanks again,

Thanks to Jackie and all at Team Challenge, what an absolutely fabulous day!
The weather was amazing and the banter was even better, haven't laughed so much in ages, especially laughed the hardest when we found out we were 4th!!! Woo Hoo!
Thanks again for a fun filled day!
Lisa
It may have been Friday 13th...but I had Confidence with a CAPITAL C.
Confidence that Jonathan, Stephen & the team at Team Challenge Company would lead us in a fun filled day.
Confidence that the sun would shine this year.
Confidence that Phil, Lynda, Clare & Stuart & the rest of the gang at Piperdam would spoil us.
And above all, CONFIDENCE that each & every one of you would do yourselves & your teams proud whilst having fun, making new friends & helping to raise funds for Roxburghe House.
In return for a donation or two, I will not reveal the team tactics I overheard discussed for 2011, which included replacing team members for younger models & instigating training regimes....This IS meant to be fun afterall!!
So my thanks to everyone mentioned above & to those who have sent me very positive feedback on the day. Let's round off the 2010 event by beating last year's fundraising total of £11,000 for our local Hospice.
Hey there,
Had an absolute fantastic day. It did take me a few days before I could walk up stairs properly due to muscle aches. Team Challenge company you are absolute legends, the energy that you guys have is immense. But hey,not as much energy as Big Bob needed for his ladies. Again another worthwhile day for Roxburghe House and was great that some of the people could come along and see it all happening. Look forward to next year - Let the training begin as we will be in it to win it.. Lol
