Team Building with Expro

Beautiful summer sunshine beamed across Aberdeen as the Expro Lion House played host to a challenging and fun-filled afternoon of Team Building with a group from the Expro International HSE team.

The team had been conferencing for a few days previous, and the Team Building event was billed as the perfect way to round off the hard working week. The group was split into 3 teams who would battle it out over a number of entertaining Team Building challenges in a bid to score top points and walk away with the much coveted Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy. And so, Team ANDJAS, the Scotland Forever Team and Going Dutch kciked-off the Team Building session with our ever popular Ice-Breaker, Giraffe Build! Let's just say that I don't think there were many artists amongst the group, or infact, many people who had ever seen a giraffe before...!

The Team Building event continued in fast paced and fun-filled fashion, as the teams pulled together and strode forwards towards maximum points in Drum Bridge, Nasa Challenge and the ever popular Plank Walk. It was the Drum Bridge task that produced some of the greatest challenges (and funniest photos, especially of Donald!), as thinking outside the box became an absolute necessity for success. Team ANDJAS shone brightest in this one, with Juliette leading the field in ensuring the safety of her team. Team Scotland Forever took a slightly more gang-ho approach to the challenge, which was conveyed in the scoring...!

Going Dutch, lead by Ciaran, performed phenomenally in the Plank Walk Team Building Challenge, I think they may have been able to make it all the way to the moon if they had enough time! Speaking of the moon, Nasa Challenge provided some of the biggest cheers and laughs of the Team Building afternoon, as the three teams were forced to think about their survival needs if they had crash landed in space. It seems that Team ANDJAS and Going Dutch may soon be invited to Kennedy Space Centre for their sensational knowledge...which is a lot more than can be said for Scotland Forever. The main learning outcome of this Team Building challenge was simple, do exactly the opposite of what Scotland Forever tell you to do in a survival situation!

And so, with a quite unbelievable performance by Team ANDJAS in the Catapult Team Building Challenge (your golf ball is still bouncing down one of the runways at Dyce Airport!), we moved on to the big Finale for the day...Bridge Build! Ron was nervous, he thought the challenge was impossible, but would you believe it...the only team to gain Bridge Build success and finish the Team Building afternoon with a bang was Scotland Forever - It must have been a fluke! It was not enough to save them however, and they still had to step up to collect the Wooden Spoon for their last place finish with 5200 points! Team Going Dutch managed to creep into second spot with 5300 points, but taking home the Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy was the mighty Team ANDJAS!

A fantastic afternoon of Team Building had been enjoyed by all, and though only one team could take home the trophy, we hope that everybody left with fond memories of the day. A big thank-you must go to Stuart, whose hard work and enthusiasm in organising the Team Building event had ensured it was a massive success. The team from Expro were an absolute pleasure to work with, and we certainly hope to see you all again soon...let's just hope our next meeting is not via crash landing on the moon...!
