Team Building with GE Energy

The beautiful grounds of Houston House Hotel played host to a fabulous day of fun-filled and exciting Team Building with a highly energetic and highly competitive group from GE Energy.

Team Building Edinburgh September 2010A nervous anticipation filled the air as the group of around 100 stepped-off the buses and looked out across the sea of entertaining Team Building Challenges and Activities that lay ahead of them. Following a quick early morning pick-me-up in the shape of some coffee and pastries, the Team Building action was soon underway. The 12 teams would prepare to battle it out across the wide range of Team Building Challenges throughout the hotel grounds in a bid to score top points and be crowned GE Energy Team Building Champions! With fabulous trophies and prizes up for grabs, this was sure to be a day not to be forgotten!

Team Building Edinburgh September 2010There were so many fantastically funny and hilarious highlights right throughout the day of Team Building that it seems an impossible task to include them all in this blog. We have included some of our top memories from the day, but if you have any additional highlights from your Team Building Event, then please feel free to include a comment at the bottom of the page and share the fun-filled experience with all. It seems only right to start with Blind Intent, and the quite amazing 'Alison Duo'! These two ladies whipped their male Team 12 team-mates into shape and had them building their tent with absolute precision. Something tells me the lads enjoyed being told what to do whilst they wore their blindfolds...especially you Mark!

Team Building Edinburgh September 2010Then there was of course Plank Walk Team Building Challenge, where the photographic evidence clearly shows some teams getting a little friendlier than we could ever have imagined. Of course, we wouldn't mention any names...Julie and Team 11! The Rollerball Team Building Challenge proved very popular, and we saw some of the most creative and genius ideas from many of the competitors right throughout the entire day....except from Team 1, 3, 10 and 12 obviously...I blame you Paul! The most Innovative Man of the Day Award went to Glenn for his incredible Rollerball design...now I know what you're all thinking, but apparently he really did come up with the idea, quite incredible!

Team Building Edinburgh September 2010Perhaps some of the greatest highlights of the Team Building Event came indoors (and out of the rain)! NASA Challenge was simply hilarious, and though debate still surrounds Derek and his cheating antics, the main focus point has to be on Team 8...but mostly you Dave! To cut a long story short, should you ever find yourself starnded on the Moon with Dave and you want to survive, do the exact opposite of what Dave tells you to do! The Final Team Building Challenge of the day was Bridge Build, and the atmosphere was electric as the crowds went wild for each competing team. There were many success, there were some failures, but  there was no bridge quite as bad as that of Team 7! Words cannot describe how much we laughed at the site of that....well, thing!

Team Building Edinburgh September 2010As the teams enjoyed some relaxed Corporate Entertainment outdoors in the shape of Archery, Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting and some Inflatable (which included the Bucking Bronco, much to Lisa's delight as she now wants one for Christmas!) the Team Building scores were be deligently totted up. With the group back indoors and awaiting there fate, a few individual awards were to be handed out. First, the Dumb and Dumber Award, which went to Team 9's very own Batman and Robin - Ian and Rob...legends! The Star of the Team Building Day award went to the very deservinig Dan for his excellent focus on safety and participation throughout the entire Event.

Team Building Edinburgh September 2010Unfortunately, one team always has to come last, and this time it was no different. Despite their sensational display at the Blind Intent, it seems they were ony any good with blindfolds in use, and Team 12 stepped up proudly to collect their Wooden Spoons. Smiling teams jumped up for their photograph one-by-one until only the top of the pile remained. Bounding across the floor to the sounds of rapturous applause, and lifting their GE Energy Team Building Winners Trophies high above their heads, the simply unstoppable Team 6!

Team Building Edinburgh September 2010A fantatsic day of Team Building had been thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance, and we sincerely hope you all left with fabulous memories of your time at Houston House Hotel. A big congratulations and a thank you goes out to Julie for organising such a successful Team Building Event, your hard work and enthusiasm really ensured it was a day to remember. It was an absolute pleasure to work with all from GE Energy, and we at Team Challenge Company look forward to seeing you all again soon.
