A fantastic group from Aggreko UK enjoyed a memorable night of Evening Entertainment at the beautiful Macdonald Roxburghe Hotel in Edinburgh with a fast paced and fun-filled Generation Game Quiz Night.
The Evening Entertainment kicked off in style with our ever popular Hit or Miss Round, as our 4 teams, named Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, prepared to do battle throughout the evening in their bid to take home the much coveted Team Challenge Company Winner's Trophy. The competitors were quickly whittled down before only Gary and Hugh were left standing tall at the front of the room. For many, these two boys looked like twins standing up there side by side, others thought it seemed as if Gary was looking at his future self...but whatever the relationship, these two stalwarts could not be separated, and both ended up taking down maximum points for their teams from the Hit or Miss Challenge.
As the wonderful Starter was served and enjoyed by all, a buzz rose around the room in anticipation of the next Generation Game Show Round...the mighty Balloon Tower. Let it be said that all rules were thrown out the window, and little regard was given to aesthetic beauty, as the teams did everything they could to add just a couple of all important inches to their Balloon Towers. Unfortunately, Team Springs effort was a bit of a flop, and the droopiness of Team Winter's design was a hilarious sight for all. And so it was Team Autumn's magnificent 67 inch structure that scored all 1000 points and led perfectly into Main Course. A fun-filled Generation Game Round of Guess Who came between Main Course and Desert, following which the Evening Entertainment really hit Top Gear with our Cake Decoration Round.
Design skills were tested to the max with this fun-filled and hilarious challenge, as Super Heroes were the theme of the day for the teams crazy cake creations. Team Spring went for a magnificent Wonderwoman specimen, whereas Team Summer and Team Winter went for their very own creations, namely 'Some sort of Mutant Turtle' and 'Generation Y Man', which was fully attributed to Steve! Team Autumn's creation sadly can't be named within this blog for legal reasons...but let's just say he was really REALLY Bad! However, this monstrosity somehow won over the guests judge's heart, and scored maximum points to make the scores tight at the top.
The Generation Game Entertainment continued with a frantic Jigsaw Race and excellent Music Round (Team Summer need to get out more after not getting a single answer wrong in this one!). And before long, it had all boiled down to the big finale...the sensation Animal Race! With everything on the line for all teams, it was really time to step up and be counted. Unfortunately, it seems Team Spring forgot it was a competition, and were happy to let their Animal limp home in last place! The furious action between the other 3 teams was, however, quite incredible, as Janice spurred Team Winter on in her own special way to take victory in the Animal Race and let the final scores go down to the wire...!
To be honest, it was no real surprise that Team Spring and a certain Hibs supporter were called up to collect the Wooden Spoon for their last place finish, somehow managing to clock up a not too disrespectful 6100 points throughout the evening. Unfortunately Team Winter had left it just a little late with their last gasp bid for the title, and took 3rd spot with 6800 points. And so, with only 200 points separating the top two, the Evening Entertainment atmosphere could be cut with a knife! Team Autumn missed out on this occasion with 6900 points, and so, up jumped the mighty Team Summer to collect their Trophy and be named the Generation Game Show Champions!
The Aggreko UK Generation Game Show had been a great success, and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. A big thank you must go to Janice and Steve, who did a fantastic job in organising such a memorable night of Evening Entertainment, and everybody at Team Challenge Company looks forward to the next event with Aggreko UK.
