Arriving at the picturesque Pittodrie House spirits were somewhat low in the Lloyds Register camp at the prospect of spending a day outdoors in the snow and rain. However, this despondency didn't last long and as soon as we got started with the first Activity in our wonderful Team Building Crystal Challenge event spirits soared. Everyone was keen to get involved and it didn't take long for the competitive streak in some to reveal itself.
Over at Team Building Code-breaker challenge both teams managed to crack the code and take back a crystal for their team and yet on the Individual Challenge for Bat the Rat Julie didn't quite make the grade (perhaps something to do with her hangover!) while James struck third time lucky with a hit sure to score a home run.
The Crystal Challenge Jigsaws and Labyrinth proved to be somewhat difficult for our teams as frustration grew and signs of discord began to show with cries of 'Please just listen to me!' from both Lesley and Richard. On Nail It, this ultimate test of strength we discovered that Peter needs a trip to Specsavers as that piece of wood took a beating.
Chicken, Fox and Grain Team Building Challenge was fast and furious as both teams tried to figure out the correct formula and execute it in time. However, after nearly losing their chicken half way down the course to shouts of 'She didn't say the chicken had to arrive ALIVE,' one team managed to triumph with literally seconds to spare. On the riddles it became apparent who has the brain power and with a little help from the rest of the team a Crystal was won.
Towers of Hanoi Team Building challenge really tested both teams and this is a notoriously difficult challenge that everyone seemed to really enjoy saw one crystal being awarded. Training for the Olympics commenced over at the Flag Race and saw some Gold Medal worthy sprinting take place.
Team Building challenge Ring Your Bell saw Ton take control guiding his team's bell very efficiently around the tricky track and after several attempts his patience and leadership paid off as they completed the challenge. Giant Buzz Me saw Tim step up to the plate and his steady wrist action gained his team another Crystal.
With only one crystal separating the Allstars and the Winners all was to play for in the Crystal Dome Team Building Finale. For the Winners Henrietta frantically grabbed handfuls of money in her bag regardless of their value and gained a total of £190. Richard then climbed in for the Allstars and had a far more sedate technique of sorting through the notes and selecting only those of value. Despite the hilarity this method saw from everyone else it proved to be the most effective and saw the Allstars claim the Ultimate prize of the Team Challenge Trophy while the Winners took home the Wooden Spoon.
In the afternoon Corporate Entertainment activities everyone enjoyed a much less competitive session where it became apparent that Lesley is a modern day Maid Marion storming the Archery competition. Similarly on Golf Henrietta stepped up and gave it some girl power only to be beaten by Bob's almost Pro skills-even with a left-handed club! The Quad Biking was a definite hit as we went roving up Ben Heath not letting trifling matters such as mud, snow or pouring rain get in the way.
Thanks must go to Lesley for organising such a fabulous Team Building and Corporate Entertainment day. We very much enjoyed working with you and look forward to seeing you all again at tomorrow nights Executive Corporate Quiz Night with Team Challenge Company.
A game of 2 halves.... and plenty of warm drinks inbetween. Great group to be with for the day and evening and the international element made it even more competitive.
We even had a towers of hanoii winner which isnt seen everyday, well done to all for getting stuck in and to Ton for getting stuck in the mud on the Quad, my boots are still full of muck...haha
Hope to see you all again very soon
Gerry.
Delighted to hear that all went so well on the day, and that everyone in attendance enjoyed our Crystal Challenge and Coporate Entertainment experience...despite the snow lying on the ground!
Having spoken with our Event Team, Gerry, Euan and Sarah-Jane, following your Team Building event, I found myself rolling on the floor with laughter following some of the hilarious stories they brought back...especially about the muddy Quad Bikes! They told me of how great a bunch the Lloyd's Register EMEA team were, and how much fun they had working with you all.
It has been an absolute pleasure to work closely with Lesley in the design and organisation of your Team Building event with us, and think you deserve a big shout out for all the hard work and commitment you put in to making the day such a success. I sincerely look forward to working with you and the rest of the Lloyd's Register EMEA team again soon.
