A beautiful spring day at the Armagh City Hotel set the tone for another energizing and motivating Team Development event with Galen. There were plenty of new faces in attendance to join those that we had worked with most recently, and although a sense of nervous anticipation filled the air, it was clear that the Galen team were ready to take on all that was thrown at them throughout their day of Team Development.
Our Team Development experience was to focus upon the Galen vision of continuing to strive towards becoming a truly global competitor within their industry, and to highlight that each and every member of the Galen team has an integral part to play in realising that vision. Following a highly productive 'Objective Setting Session' that got the day off to a terrific start, the Galen team jumped in at the deep end and kicked-off the Team Development activities with a fun-filled Balloon Tower experience. The less said about Team Pike and the Bendy Wendy's here the better...however, Team One Direction got themselves off to a flyer, constructing quite possibly the largest Balloon Tower we have ever seen...Legends!
The Team Development day continued with all three teams competing in a number of unique and varied Team Development challenges, all of which focused upon differing learning objectives. Team work, planning participation were at the core of all these challenges, and it was a pleasure to see that all three teams thrived within the tasks theselves...especially Ken and The Bendy Wendy's when they heard that blindfolds were required for the Sheep Pen Challenge! Team One Direction quickly became known as Team No Direction following their attempt over at Sheep Pen, however, they quickly redeemed themselves on the Flying Stepping Stones Challenge as Katherine inspired the team to victory!
Interlocker proved to be as tough a Team Development task as any, with all teams struggling to find the solution...despite all teams taking photographs on their phones...! Team Pike, however, stood strong and took maximum points on this one, though rumours of bribery (probably something to do with Mark taking Stephen fishing!) quickly circulated the other teams! The fun and enjoyment kept on coming with the remaining Team Development Challenges, though Travel Ball wasn't much fun for Pamela and the Bendy Wendy's...I'm glad we had a time limit on that challenge or we might all still be there waiting for them to finish. Scrambled Egg proved a big hit with One Direction and the Bendy Wendy's, and more of a Big Splat for Team Pike! Martin, we all blame you, your egg dropping skills need some serious work!
Before too long, the time for the grand finale had arrived...the mighty Bridge Build! As we went into this last Team Development challenge, the scores were so tight at the top that it really was all to play for, and the tension around the room was extraordinary! It seems the pressure got a little too much for Team One Direction, as their RC Car plummeted into the cravass below. The Bendy Wendy's and Team Pike, however, kept the dream alive and crossed their bridges to glory! Now all that was left was the scores! Unfortunately, it was not to be Team One Direction's day as they were pipped into the Wooden Spoon spot by the Bendy Wendy's, who took 2nd spot with a great score of 7600 points. Nothing, however, could come in the way of Mark and that Team Challenge Company Winner's Trophy, as Team Pike stepped up to be crowned champions with 7900 points!
The Team Development event with Galen was a great success, with all in attendance thoroughly enjoying experience and walking away with fabulous memories of their time at Armagh City Hotel. It seems that the overarching objectives of the day, both personal and team-based, had been achieved, and that everybody in attendance had a positive personal commitment to take back with them to the workplace. A big thank-you goes out to Carolyn, Lynn and Mark for all your hard work and effort in organising such a successful Team Development event, and to everybody else in attendance for making the day so very memorable. The entire team from Galen was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we at Team Challenge Company certainly look forward to working with you all again in the near future.
