24 Hour 3 Peaks Challenge in Aid of CHAS

3 Peaks Challenge WalkersThe countdown to the 6th May draws ever closer, and panic is setting in as some of our team wait to embark on a mighty quest - the 3 Peaks Challenge.  Bob Scott aka Bobbo , Gerry Crowley aka Gman, Stephen (NO PAIN) Hazley and Euan Bell Aka Dozer, have been training seriously hard in recent weeks, with sessions taking place in many of the mountains and hills of Great Britain. The team have been putting in all their hard work in the hope of raising £2,000, and ultimately raising awareness for the very deserving children’s charity, CHAS

With extensive travel and very demanding event commitments of late, training has at times been difficult to schedule. The £2000 goal, however, drives the team on, and has motivated the boys to successfully complete the 3 Peaks (Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scaffel Pike) Challenge in under 24 hours.

The charity they are raising money for is local to one of our offices, and are an enormous strength to families of sick children.  Having heard first hand of the amazing stories that take place at Rachel & Robin House, we were all truly inspired, and it was an easy decision to assist CHAS in any way we could.

CHAS

Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is a Scottish charity that provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

CHAS PhotoCHAS runs two children’s hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch. The hospices support the whole family by offering short planned breaks, emergency support, end of life care and a range of bereavement services.

CHAS also provides a home care service, called CHAS at Home, staffed from both hospices and with a dedicated team in the North of Scotland. The service offers care to families in their own homes when they need it most.

CHAS supports over 250 families, as well as a significant number of families who receive bereavement support. The services are free to families who need them and are funded mainly through the generosity of the many supporters who help the charity to raise over £6 million needed each year to provide these vital hospice services.

Thought you all looked fresh as a daisy back at base lads, particular Dozer, it was as if he had stored up the years of sleeping he has done in the van all for The 3 Peaks!

Amazing achievement gents, proud to know you all, and even prouder to know how much money and awareness you have raised for CHAS, a thoroughly deserving and worthy cause. When you hand over that big cheque, you will all know that the pain was worth it!

Anybody fancy going for a 6 miler tomorrow morning?

  • stephen hazley replied on 9 May 2011 at 09:28

Did anybody see the bus that just hit me !!!!

What a Weekend, What an Experience, what a Challenge - 3 Peaks Challenge !

Thanks to all the team for getting me up and down the mountains, even when the elements were against us the team stayed strong - couldn't have done it without you boys and of course Doc Diana - worth every ounce of training we put in for the 24 hour test of mind and body.

Enjoyed every step, every view and every moment...well apart from what looked like the audition scenes from BrokeBack Mountain in the back of the van with Craig and Dozer !

A fantastic achievement from everyone for CHAS and for each of us, so proud of myself and everyone on the team - I couldnt have chosen better people to get me over the finish line with a full 17 minutes to spare - looking forward to the next Challenge - whatever and wherever that may be for us all I know we will step up to it ...Bring It On !

Congratulations and well done to an amazing team.

It was great to follow the progress throughout day. With the bad weather many of us would stop after climbing Ben Nevis, but the team battled on with great spirits and determination. Proud of each one of you for completing the challenge and raising both awareness and money to CHAS.

Look forward to hearing your next challenge!

  • Bob Scott replied on 10 May 2011 at 15:56

We would like to thank all our family and friends for all their support through this fantastic challenge all in the aid of CHAS our chosen charity for 2011 , we couldn't have done it without you !!

We have now hit our target of £2000 and we hope that we may even get to £2250 which would be amazing.

I would like to thank personally the team Gerry, Stephen, Euan, Craig, Dr Diana and Fraser and of course all the crew from Teram Challenge headquarters for being such a great support to me and each other as this challenge was a great experience and personal achievement for all of us!.

I'm in the process of organising our next Charity trip, which will hopefully be unveiled in the next 2 weeks, so watch this space the only hint i can give at this time is. It will take place next Easter.
