Highland Games Afternoon with Pepperl Fuchs

Highland Games Corporate EntertainmentFollowing a tough but successful morning of conferencing at the picturesque Marriot Dalmahoy in Edinburgh it was the turn of the teams from Pepperl Fuchs to enjoy the afternoon of Team Building Highland Games Entertainment for an afternoon of truly Scottish fun. After choosing highly original (!) Scottish names, the 4 teams got straight into the games.

At Toss the Caber Andreas and the team struggled early on being too cocky, and proving that it is more difficult than it looks to be a great tosser. Sascha did well considering the Caber was at least twice the size of him! Meanwhile Angela proved that she could do it with her practice go but could not repeat her success when it really mattered. When told that his team's hopes were resting on his seemingly capable shoulders, John panicked with a cry of 'I bloody hope not!'

Highland Games, Corporate EntertainmentAt the Haggis Hurling Team Building Station Gerrad and Lief stepped up to land the hoops and to keep their tems in check. Although there was a lot of speculation as to the consequences of the disgusting cheating that came from the Highlanders! It was decided that a rematch would be most appropriate and they had the chance to prove they didn't have to cheat after all by taking the win. Richard was so busy asking 'Have we started yet? Have we started yet?' that he almost missed the actual contest.

Highland Games, Corporate EntertainmentAt Welly Fling there was chaos as several of the teams had near misses to the crown jewels by not being able to tell one end of the welly from the other. This was Sharon's chance to shine for the Nessies and managed to score the maximum double hooper twice in a row showing the guys how it is done. Stone Lift was the strongman category of the day and it was the Weegies who pulled it out the bag and managed the best time of the day with a whopping time of 2 minutes while their nearest rivals, the Nesbits lagged behind on 1 minute 26 seconds. The strain was clear on the faces of some but others looked like the pumped iron everyday and 'The Swede' as he became known revealed some impreesive muscles.

Highland Games, Corporate EntertainmentHey You Jimmy was the penultimate challenge of the afternoon and was the chance for Ian from the Weegies to shine, alongside Nick and Stefan whose skill in jumping through hoops makes us wonder who wears the trousers in his family. Terry and the gang ran and relayed as best they could and it was the Nessies and Highlanders who took the points in this round giving them a boost as we headed for the grand finale. Tug o War was to be that Highland Games finale and the Nesbits romped home to victory with some serious muscle power, as did the Nessies with spectacular wins on the Tug. The groans of exertions from the others could be heard for miles as they strained hard but could not keep up.

Highland Games, Corporate EntertainmentThis meant that it was the Nessies who triumphed and took home the Team Challenge Company Winner's Trophy with a staggering 5000 points while the Nesbits came a close second with 4500 points. In third place it was the Highalnders who were simply glad they managed not to come last with their score of 4000 leaving the Weegies bringing up the rear with 3000 and thus taking home the Loser's Wooden Spoon.

A fantastic Team Building afternoon of very Scottish Highland Games was had by all and thanks go to Alison for putting together such a great day for all the teams. We look forward to seeing you all the next time - all of you in your kilts.

With such a mix of nationalities and accents I am quite surprised all the teams did so well, although I am sure there were times when aftee one of my rambling long explanations you wished I wasn't so Scottish.
The competitive spirits that were unleashed as the day went on proved for a lot of hilarity, not to mention the several attempts at cheating! This was such a fantastic afternoon and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as we all did.
    Until the next time.
