The sun was out for Dril-Quip's summer BBQ Fun Day at Ardoe House Hotel with a fantastic action-packed day to be held by Team Challenge Company.
This year the theme was the Olympics, with all the country flags flying in the wind and the gold medals ready to give out to the winners of the Archery and Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting competitions.
The sumo wrestling proved to be a popular one, with mums dads and kids all battling to be the biggest and fattest sumo to end up on top of their competitor!! There was laughter all across the field with everybody having a go on the Surf Simulator, Coconut Shy and Beat The Goalie with even some parents getting themselves face painted to join in with the fun.
The kids were having a great time on the Barfly and the Bungee Run until the food was served, when everyone ran and got a quick bite before the first competition of the day - the Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting. It was a great round of shooting with the leader changing every round but Kinga was our champion - the first female winner in 11 years!
Next we headed straight to the Archery Competition where in the first round we had a lot of lucky shots. The second round wasn't so successful, but one man struck gold and hit the balloon to win the Team Challenge Company olympic medal - well done John!![]()
The kids and adult races finished up the competitions for the day, and they were by far the most exciting! Everyone took part in our favourite It's An Knockout races with 2 teams going up against each other to win the Team Challenge Company trophy. It was a big win for Team 1 showing Team 2 how to ski like pros. A big shot out to Elaine for putting on another fantastic BBQ Fun Day event and we hope to see you all next year.
Another fun-filled and fabulous summer BBQ at Mercure Ardoe House Hotel with the fantastic guests of Dril-Quip.
They day was made special with a Olympic themed event with all guests trying their best to take away Gold medals. The highlight of the day was when Elaine was on the Bungee Run trying her hardest to beat her daughter but just was not good enough to take Gold. The words of her Daughter haha
A well organised event by Elaineand we look forward to the next one.
Bob
Elaine certainly deserved a medal for her efforts planning and organising the event.
Hope the weather is better for the next one.
Good times had by all!

Could not fault the day. Had a fantastic time.
Hats off to Elaine for organising such a great day
great day, loads of fun, thoroughly enjoyable and great food.
Another successful event, good to see so many people braving the elements and not allowing the wet stuff to ruin the fun. Huge thanks the lads and lassies from Team Challenge (couldn't do it without you guys) and all the staff at Ardoe House.
P.S. Bob, I believe I did reach Gold standard, my efforts just weren'tt recognised ha ha
