Woodbank provided the venue on a wintry February afternoon, where a small group from Shell arrived to take part in a fantastic Team Training Event in the shape of our unique Team Training programme 'Trade to Win'.

The group of 19 where split into 4 teams, in which they would compete against each other in a variety of both entertaining and challenging Team Building Activities. The overall aim was simple - to perform strongly in each of the Team Building Activities, acquiring enough fun money to allow the teams to design, build and launch their very own rocket! The 4 teams, namely; The Rocketeers, All Fired Up, Mission Impossible and Damp Squib were briefed and were ready to rock.

The Team Building games were certainly challenging ones, as the teams competed in Scrambled Egg, Big Screen Games, RollerBall and Scalextrics. One of the most hilarious moments of the afternoon came from Design an Ad, where Damp Squib made a presentation about dancing ladies...it was certainly one to remember...! The famous Bridge Build challenge was also taken on by the 4 teams, and all 4 teams managed to perform horribly, with each and every bridge failing spectacularly.

With the Team Building challenges complete and the fun money gathered, it was time to build those rockets, and prepare to present them to a 'boardroom' of potential 'investors'. The 4 teams found themselves stood infront of General Neil-Do, Captain Hannah Montanna and Sir Stephen O'Sugar, Sir Alan's more ruthless, more successful and more Irish cousin. The presentations went down a storm, providing laughter and enjoyment throughout the entire group.

Finally it was time for launch, and the teams gathered on the grounds of Woodbank to watch all 4 rockets soar successfully towards the evening sky, each launch being met with rapturous applause. It was a tough decision, as each and every team performed really well throughout the entire day. However, only one team could secure the contract and walk away with the Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy, which was eventually awarded to All Fired Up!

Though there could only be one winning team on the day, we are quite sure that all who participated in the Team Training Event really benefitted from the challenge, and we hope that everybody was able to take something from their experience back into the workplace.
It seems only fitting to end with perhaps the most knowledgable remark of the day, coming from the Captain of Damp Squib...'You know what...? I don't sell rockets quite as well as I sell dancing girls!'
It was a pleasure to work with such a committed group and I especially enjoyed Jeannette and her presentation of the suductive rocket! And as the trader on the floor I would say some people, Ben included need to sharper up their Negotiation skills. Will be seeing you all again soon and remember its the small things that matter.
I headed up the scalextric track at this event and was delighted to see how many committed drives there were within the group and at how fast they were able to take their tops off !
Not sure the best team won but thats up for discussion on another blog forum..hehe
Keep up the practice and until next time drive safe.

Great efforts from all the teams and 100% success on the rockets, just watch ALL those beauties fly....unheard of at Team Challenge Company, without even a bribe!. Teams worked together in perfect harmony with spectacular results ! We will just have to make the tasks even harder next time, so keep training, stay focused as a team and next time bring a bribe just in case ! Red Bull works for me.
