A group of around 120 employees from UHI Millennium Institute took a break from their away-day workshops at Drumossie Hotel to enjoy an afternoon of fun-oriented Team Building activities with Team Challenge Company.

The afternoon of Team Building began with a quick brief and the splitting up of the group into 10 different teams, which would compete head-to-head on the different tasks and challenges on show. Though there were a few familiar faces from the Team Building event last year, it was clear everyone was a little apprehensive, and so we threw them straight in at the deep end and headed right into the first of the activities.

The 10 teams competed in 5 separate Team Building challenges, each with fun as the primary objective, whilst of course trying to earn valuable points towards winning that magnificent Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy at the end of the day. The Team Building included Plank Walk, the mighty Catapult, Rollerball, Air Rifles and the ever popular Axe Throwing. It was sure to be a fun afternoon, and the event itself did not disappoint.
The Air Rifles produced a few tremendous performances throughout the Team Building afternoon, with Katherine finding the very centre of the bullseye to record shot of the day and ensure her team, The Blunders Never Cease, finished top of the pile in that particular activity.

Plank Walk provided much of the fun and laughter during the Team Building session, particularly for Amie of the Simple Minds! For the sake of the integrity of this blog, we won't go into too many details, but let it suffice to say that her leadership techniques were certainly unique, and that "leading from the rear" took on a whole new perspective for her team...!!! Luckily for her we lost the photographic evidence somewhere on the journey home!

As the afternoon of Team Building challenges drew to an end, it was time to gather in the scores and get ready to announce the winners (and the losers)! The apprehensive atmosphere that began the day had turned to tension as the teams waited to hear the results of their performances. It was incredibly close at the top of the pile (less can be said for those teams at the bottom) and just a few hundred points separated the top 4 teams. We have included a list the results below, partly to congratulate the champs whilst simultaneously embarrassing the less talented teams!

The Team Building session had proved a great success, and everybody from UHI Millennium Institute seemed to thoroughly enjoy all the activities on offer. Though only one team could walk away winners, we truly hope everybody left with great memories of their Team Building afternoon with Team Challenge Company. A big thank you must go to Emma for her fantastic job in organising such a successful event, you put in a lot of effort and enthusiasm which really shone through on the day (despite the fact your team came second last!) and we all look forward to working with you and the rest of the UHI Millennium Institute group again in the future.
