Team Development with JTI

Team Challenge Company had the pleasure of working with a small group of employees from JTI in a Team Development day at the stunning Galgorm Manor.

JTI

The Team Development day took the shape of our unique 'Trade to Win' program, in which the teams competed head-to-head on a number of Team Building challenges in a bid to earn enough fun money which would allow the teams to design, build and launch their very own rocket! The group was divided into 4 teams; Mission Impossible, NISA, Sky High and The High Flyers.

The Team Development morning began slowly, but as soon as the group were up on their feet and outside in the sun the atmosphere quickly changed. The competitive side of all team members began to shine through, particularly Big Davey of Mission Impossible, who started out wanting to be back in his bed...oh how the lure of a Winners Trophy can change a person! We kicked off with the ever challenging Helium Stick, which all 4 teams tackled very impressively.

Rollerball and Giraffe Build rounded off the morning session of Team Development, with the creative, innovative and 'outside the box' thinking of many individuals leading their respective teams forward to success. The Rollerball designs were amazing, particularly construction built by The High Flyers, which looked like a Roller Coaster more than anything else. Mission Impossible excelled in this Team Building task, scoring an enormous time of 1 minute 29 seconds! Davey's quote of the day summed in up perfectly - 'does it actually HAVE to stop???'

Following lunch the group jumped straight back into their Team Development day with the high risk/low risk strategy session, which was played on on the Roulette Table and the Big Screen Games. There was a few big losers on the high risk Roulette Table, and some amazing techniques on the Big Screen Games, from one dancing man in the Sky High team particular...move over Justin Timerlake, this man is different class!

From then on out the Team Development focused on the building of the rocket. Following a few speed bumps (mainly due to the 'devious' Mission Impossible and the Fuel Cell Fiasco) the rockets really began to take shape, and before long it was time for the presentations. There was a wide range of quality and content in throughout the presentations, but one stood out more than others, and once again it was all down to the medium of dance! What a show boys, what a show!

A large crowd gathered at the top of the lawn to mitness the big finale to the day of Team Development - the launch! The igniters hissed and the smell of smoke filled the air as 3 of the 4 rockets launched successfully, with 2 of them fully recoverable on the grounds of Galgorm Manor. It was the perfect end to a fantastic day of Team Development, with a great sense of achievement flowing through all the participants. It had all come down to consistency, and the winners were undisputed, the mighty Sky High team, who stepped up to the sounds of rapturous appluase to collect the Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy.

The Team Development day with JTI had been a great success, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Though only one team could walk away with the trophy, we hope everybody left with some valuables learnings from the day which will be taken back into the workplace and utilised for most effective practice. A big thank you must go to Elaine for her part in organising such a fantastic day of Team Building challenges and Team Development, and we at Team Challenge Company certainly look forward to working with the JTI group again.
