Team Challenge Company enjoyed the pleasure of working with 3 seperate groups from Standard Life Investments, all of which took part in our unique 'Trade to Win' Team Building program over a 3-day period at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. The Team Building Events certainly proved ones to be remembered.
Over 150 employees from the Standard Life Investment Operations Team took part in the Team Building Events over the course of the 3 days, which saw the groups split into teams who competed against each other across a series of Team Building Challenges and games, all whilst working towards the common goal of the day - to design and build a rocket, then present their company to a panel of very strict judges...(Denise and Mike were the toughest we've ever had!!!) The Helium Stick challenge kick-started every day, and we have included some video footage below to embarrass all those who said it would be easy!
Another Tough Helium Stick Challenge
The Team Building Challenges provided copious amounts of fun and laughter throughout the 3 days, with Scrambled Egg proving a particular favourite with the teams....it was just a shame that they were all rubbish at it! The Rollerball too proved very popular on all 3 Team Building days, with some unbelievable results. We've seen some crazy and excentric designs in our time, but the SLI team managed to go one step further on many occaisions! Big Tony, otherwise known as Tweedle-Dum (or was he Tweedle-Dee?) ensured there would be no copying his team's incredible effort! Check out the video links below to see some of the most successful creations.

Further Team Building Activities included the ever-difficult Blind In-Tent, the Indoor Laser Shoot, and the chance to risk it all on the Roulette Wheel - the risk for some paid off, but for others it was a painful experience to feel all that money slip through their fingers. A mention must go here to Martin K, the greatest Puzzle Solver of all-time, and also to Maggie, the greatest Puzzle Destroyer to ever grace our presence!!! Giant Buzz Me gave the teams a chance to earn bonus money...not many managed!
Then there was the greatest Team Building Challenge of all - the incredible, the sensational, the electrifying, Bridge Build! Once again design and construction were put to the test, with many teams cracking under the huge amounts of pressure! Some teams, though, stepped up to the plate and ensured they were counted, thrashing the remote control car across the gap with style and conviction! A success rate over the 3 days of Team Building of around 50% was pretty impressive, and would have been higher had the Day-2 teams made some accurate measurements! Once again we have put together a few videos of the best and worst attempts throughout the whole 3 days.

The Team Building Events culminated in the building of the team rockets and the presentations of their companies, providing some of the most incredibly fun and hilarious highlights across the 3 days. There was Boomerang Rockets and Enemy Invaders. There was Elvis Impersonators and Dancing Girls. There was Invisible Paint and Fully Ribbed Rockets. There was Rocky Balboa and the Awesome Sexy Space Agency. And then there was Eddie! One Man came in search of love, and one man left very very happy, and it was all thanks to the one and only Sharon! What a story, what a finale, and what a legend!
Over the 3 days of Team Building Events there were many winners who arrived back to the office with with the Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy held aloft, and many losers who went home with nothing but the Wooden Spoon (Mike, it would be unfair to mention your last place finish again here...but we will anyway!) Team 2 grabbed Top Spot on Day 1 with a great score of 34 points, and the 33 points earned by Team 5 on Day 2 saw them walk away champions! But, as always, the best was saved until last! The winning score on Day 3 was an incredible 35 points, and it was to nobody's surprise that it went to Eddie, Sharon and the rest of Team 2...what a spectatcular end to 3 fun-filled and entertaining Team Building days.
The Team Building Events with the group from Standard Life Investments had all proved to be huge successes, with each and every person thoroughly enjoying their time with Team Challenge Company at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. An enormous thank-you must go to Denise, Audrey, Tracey and the rest of the organising committee, whose enthusiasm and committment to the organisation of the Team Building program ensured a complete success. The Events were a credit to you and your company, and we at Team Challenge Company certainly look forward to working with you all again in the future.
