Dozer the Clown records PB at Glasgow Green
The fourth leg of the Co-operative jogscotland 5k challenges kicked off on Glasgow Green amidst glorious summer sunshine on Wednesday 24th June, and once again Team Challenge Company arrived in eager anticipation, with Dozer the Clown in hot pursuit.
Team Challenge Company's very own Dozer the Clown, who had completed the opening jogscotland 5k challenge of 2009 at Haddo Country Park just one week previous, was geared up to tackle the Glasgow Green course along with over 1000 other runners. As he had done in Aberdeenshire, Dozer once again entertained the masses with his hilarious Pedalo antics, amazing Juggling tricks and incredible Plate Spinning skills. Having one jogscotland 5k challenge already under his over-sized clown belt, Dozer was more relaxed before the Glasgow Green race, where his funny side shone through during the mass warm-up...he certainly knows how to make me roll about with laughter!
The famous jogscotland atmosphere filtered through the massive field of runners, and with nearly 1000 supporters dotted around the course, it was easy to see why so many athletes of all experience and abilities had turned up to make this particular event such a huge success. Adrenaline took over as the starting pistol echoed around Glasgow Green - the fourth jogscotland 5k challenge of 2009 was off and running.
The strong evening sun beat down upon the course, making tough conditions for many of the runners. Dozer the Clown, dressed in his full clown attire complete with juggling hat, fought back the heat and tore around the course in style, carried each step of the way by the fantastic support of the onlooking crowds. This year's winning athlete completed the course in an incredible 16 minutes, but Dozer the Clown was not to be outdone, as he set a sensational Personal Best time of just 23 minutes.
Team Challenge Company are once again this years proud sponsor of the 5k Workplace Challenge, which aims to promote healthy lifestyles within the workplace and encourage employees to get fit for business. Workplace teams will compete across each of the 5 jogscotland 5k Challenges in a bid to win a team day out with Team Challenge Company, all whilst raising as much money as possible for charity. The Glasgow Green leg of the 5k Workplace Challenge was won by the IBM Team - congratulations, the Team Challenge Company 5k Workplace Challenge Trophy is winging its way to you!
The jogscotland 5k Challenge at Glasgow Green had been a massive success, with all in attendance really enjoying the entire evening! It was particularly exciting to have Commonwealth Athelete Mike East there to present all the Winner Trophies. The Team Challenge Company crew look forward to seeing everybody again at the final leg of the 2009 Co-operative jogscotland series in Edinburgh on Tuesday 30th June, where Dozer the Clown will be stepping out in his big Clown Shoes and taking on the 5k course - twice! That's right, Dozer the Clown plans to run both 5k challenges in Edinburgh, so why not come along and see if you can spot him one last time! Good Luck Dozer.
