Fourteen teams of budding detectives from RGU enjoyed a fantastic lunch and afternoon entertainment in the shape of a dark and sinister Murder Mystery Event. at the Copthorne Hotel in Aberdeen.
The fourteen 'Sleuths and Cops' themed tables assumed their roles in the Murder Mystery enquires, picking apart the stories of some fiendishly talented actors and investigating the sequence of events that lead to the terrible mis-doings in "The Clan-Destine Death"...all in the course of enjoying a fabulous Lunch at The Aberdeen Copthorne Hotel. The teams ranged from the CSI Miami, to the Colombo , Taggart , Kojak and even the Miss Marple and Starsky and Hutch team got a look in.
The teams were presented with the Murder Mystery story of 'Ye Older MacDonald Clan , an authentic Scottish experience of Murder Mysteries. The Entertainment kicked off before starters were served, and the guests were quickly transported into a world of fantasy and a devious murder investigation with an opening act that nobody would forget full of lust, passion , intrigue and of course the death of Lord MacDonald himself...but nothing is as it seems with this Team Challenge Murder Mystery Event.
It was then up to the talented teams of table detectives to quiz the actors on everything they could possibly think of - from their whereabouts on the night of the murder to their crazy lustful antics with the other leading characters.... Just where was Eve the Housekeeper and why has Chef E Coli a dodgy accent and as for the Reverend Halleluiah !!!! It was to be a fantastic afternoon of fun, laughter and enjoyment as the individual table team sleuths battled it out to discover the truth behind the devious murder and bag themselves the Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy in the process.
The afternoon was full of much competition and hilarious banter between the guests, with a memorable statement from one particular detective who perhaps wasn't fairing quite as well as others was from the Sherlock Holmes team..." Was he killed with a de-frosted lobster in a crime of passion.?'
As the Murder Mystery Lunch to a close and the final accusations were made, it seems some detectives were about as useful as the infamous Inspector Jacques Cousteau from the Pink Panther Movies ! The Colombo team was given the honour of last place for both their awful guess of the culprits to their particularly poor handwriting...must do better next time !
Luckily for the guests from the RGU, there were a few serious Colombo's amongst the crowd who were close...but alas No Cigar ! All in all, the smallest team- the Sweeney performed outstandingly, and it seems that perhaps Crime Scene Investigator is a realizable career path in the near future. The Sweeney Team were presented with their Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy and the afternoon was hailed by all as a huge success , and we are quite sure that many of the guests have already begun watching re- runs of Inspector Morse and swotting up for their next Murdery Mystery Event.
