The Ghillie Dhu was transformed into a quizzing hub for the group from Kames Capital to celebrate their indoor team building activities event with an Executive Quiz Night with a difference! As the guests arrived to a warm welcome it was straight over to the buffet to sample the delicious food on offer. Our quiz master soon got the evening started with a bang, introducing teams (almost forgetting the B.A Fools!) and then the Play your Cards Right round as the teams screamed ‘higher’ or ‘lower’. In the end it was Legally Bland that was triumphant after this thrilling opener taking an early lead, but they didn’t hang onto it for long. The rounds that followed saw the teams test their wordplay skills and maths Countdown style with Claire taking the lead answering with her ‘I haven’t got a clue!’ Some General Knowledge followed, as well as those famous say-what-you-see Catchphrases before a refreshment break and quick score update. Questions in Sport was an easy round for most teams, but not as strong as Logo Mix which saw the Paul Ritchie’s Prodigious Pension Pot triumph having played a very timely team Mascot for those double points!

Part of the reason for the quiz was to celebrate the retirement of both Paul Ritchie and Katrina Russel after an incredible 24 years and 17 years respectively with the team. The spotlight was on Paul for his specialist subject round of The Boer War and he definitely gave us a lot of laughs! Katrina was let off lightly by our host answering only her length of service so both gained extra points for their teams. The Music round was our penultimate round and the last chance for teams to play their Mascots. As we reached our Brucie Bonus for the showcase the excitement was heightened by a fire alarm which saw us heading out into the sun (with a few of the ladies hoping for a sight of the firemen!) Upon return to the quiz it was only the B.A. Fools who were anywhere near the total taking home a final few points.

With ten teams in total it was The Wizard is the Answer finished in last place with 500 points taking home the Wooden Spoon while last years’ winners The Names Bond… Kames Bond was in 9th place with 540 points. E=MC Hammer, B.A. Fools and Missing Private Ryan were next. It’s Accrual World, Money back if Pistorius Walks and Paul Ritchie’s team just missed out on the big points leaving Best Bong Ever in 2nd place with 730 points leaving the early leaders Legally Bland to be crowned champions with the Winner’s Trophy presented on the stage to much applause. Executive Quiz Night provided a fantastic evening full of lots of laughs so thank you to Alisa and the rest of the Social Committee for working so hard to make it possible. Good luck to Paul and Katrina in their retirement and we look forward to seeing the rest of you again in the future.

Congratulations to Paul and Katrina on your retirement - I am sure it has taken some getting used to and we will certainly miss your input into the committee's events. Despite the unfulfilled excitement of the firemen (!) this was a fantastic, fun night and an absolute pleasure to be a part of. Thank you again for welcoming us to your night.

Great night, made even better with a great team of people and who came ready to compete. A big shock when the firemen came in but added to the least for the girls! Well played every one and a warm appreciation to the committee for getting organised for us.
