The lovely Thainstone House Hotel in Aberdeen was the setting for Technip UK to experience our, team building, Outdoor Pursuits. The Team Challenge Company Trophy was up for grabs for the team that got the best score by taking part in the activities. There were Pedal Cars, Coconut Shy, Surf Simulator, Air Rifles and Archery for our team members to try and collect points and then to finish off they had to come together as a team to complete NASA Challenge and Giraffe in the hope of being winners.

Once the teams had been picked it was time to head out despite the rain to the first activities. On the pedal cars Jason was showing off his racing boy skills, managing to skid his car right off the track for a person rally. All the teams had perfected their aim scoring highly on the coconut shy while the ladies were wishing they had bikinis for the surf simulator that needed drying from rain. Over at the air rifles John was a master shot, whilst despite having their own executive archery coach helping everyone out it was Graham who rivalled Robin Hood. With all the outside activities completed and the rain still in the air it was time to move inside and dry off with NASA challenge and giraffe. The teams had to imagine they had crashed on the moon and had to order the 15 items by importance. Team 1 proved most creative in their justification of their order but that meant they scored highly whist Lisa lead team 2 to survival just missing out on the top spot behind team 4 who were the most likely to be the next the astronauts for NASA scoring only 14.

The final challenge of the day had the teams building the tallest giraffe they could out of paper. Some looked a little underfed, either with too square a body or one completely out of proportion to their body but there was lots of competition at the top that resulted in standing on a chair just to be measured. Team 8's giraffe looked great but sadly it couldn't stand up to the pressure and collapsed at the last minutes making it the smallest at only 21inch while the tallest were over 70 inch and it was team 3 who took the points with 78 and a half inches!. With all the activities completely and the scores counted it was time to announce the winner. In last place after their giraffe disaster was team 2 who went home with the wooden spoon. Team 6 were just ahead in 7th place while it was just 50 points that separated teams 8, 4, and 3 who came in 6th, 5th and 4th. In 3rd place with 5250 points was team 7 while team 5 just missed out on the top spot 5550. 6050 was the winning number though and it was Team 1 who took home the Team Challenge Company Trophy. Even in the rain there were smiles all round and everyone had a great day. Thank you so much to Lisa for your fantastic help organising this event! We look forward to working again with you soon and hopeful bringing the sun with us!
