The Brambles in Dudley was the venue as the AA joined us for a second day of Team Building activities, with the West Midlands section of their Road Teleworking team looking to improve on the efforts of their Yorkshire counterparts.

Following the tightly contested and ‘much trickier than it looks’ Helium Stick activity the teams faced the Crane Construction challenge. A mixed bag of results here saw us going from the sublime 62 ½ inch lift by the Sheila’s Wheels team, to the ridiculous with the 2 Simple team managing just 3 ½ inches. Next up for the teams was the Team Building favourite NASA Challenge, and in a complete reversal of fortunes the 2 Simple team enjoyed a resounding victory, achieving an excellent score of just 14 points, beating The Untouchables into 2nd place with 34 points. With The Conquerors going on to win the Design an Ad competition the teams ended the morning in a four way tie for the lead, with each having won an event.

Following their lunch break the teams were eager to get going again, and soon got to grips with the challenge presented by the Travel Ball race with the 2 Simple team just managing to beat the ultra-competitive Untouchables team into 2nd place. Interlocker was next up, and again the 2 Simple team came out victorious, thanks in no small part to the 37 seconds taken to complete the 1 minute challenge, knocking 6 seconds off the previous record. The musical Boomwhackers round was next up, and this time it was the Conqueror’s turn to claim the glory in a competition which saw renditions of songs ranging from Baa Baa Black Sheep to Frere Jacques.

At the end of the afternoon it was time for the scores and the two teams that ended up middle of the road were The Untouchables with 6,000 and The Conquerors with 5,600. With the wooden spoon going to the Sheila’s Wheels team with 5,400 points, the trophy went to the 2 Simple team with a massive 6,600, who following a disastrous opening in the Crane Construction showed that whilst good teams can be successful, the measure of a great team is how they respond to defeat.

It was absolutely brilliant! Gerry, Richard & Sean were amazing. We all had such a laugh. The venue was great too.   Thanks for all your help!
