About the Client
Fife Housing Group — Bringing a New Strapline to Life
Fife Housing Group is a registered social landlord operating across Fife, Scotland. With a workforce spanning office-based staff, field workers, and operational teams, creating genuine cohesion across such a diverse employee base is a real and ongoing challenge.
The organisation had recently launched a new company strapline — #oneteam — and needed an event that would bring that message to life authentically. Simply announcing a new strapline from a stage rarely changes how people feel. They needed something that would make every person in the room feel it.
The Challenge
A ‘Wow Experience’ That Embodied #oneteam — Not Just Talked About It
The brief was explicit: this could not be a generic team building session. With 80 people from very different parts of the organisation in the room together — from the managing director to the maintenance team — the event had to work for everyone. And it had to leave something tangible behind. A “wow factor” that people would still be talking about months later.
That last requirement was the hardest to meet. Creating a genuine “wow moment” that resonates equally with a managing director and a maintenance operative — and that endures beyond the day itself — demands a very specific kind of creative thinking.
The Solution
The Big Picture — A Bespoke Collaborative Artwork
Team Challenge Company selected The Big Picture — a creative, collaborative event in which teams paint individual canvasses that, when combined, reveal a single giant artwork. The power is in the bespoke design process that precedes the event itself.
-
Bespoke Artwork Design
Working from a brief provided by Fife Housing Group’s marketing team, Team Challenge Company designed an original artwork that wove together the organisation’s working life, recent achievements, values, and culture — with the #oneteam strapline at its heart.
-
The Secret Reveal
Teams were guided to paint their individual canvasses without knowing the final design. The finished pieces were assembled behind the scenes during the event — keeping the full picture secret until the dramatic reveal moment.
-
The Awards Ceremony Moment
At the climax of the evening, the completed artwork was dramatically unveiled to the entire staff team. The reaction was exactly what the brief called for — a genuine, shared “wow moment” that landed with everyone in the room.
-
A Permanent Legacy
The finished artwork now hangs on the wall at Fife Housing Group’s head offices — a daily, visible reminder that every person in the organisation contributed to something bigger than their individual role.
The Outcome
A Masterpiece on the Wall and a Message That Stuck
The reveal moment landed exactly as intended — a genuine shared emotional experience that brought 80 people together in a way no presentation ever could.
The strapline moved from a slide on a screen to a physical object that every member of staff helped create — making the message genuinely felt rather than simply heard.
Painting requires no prior skill or seniority. Office staff, field workers, and operational teams all participated on equal terms — exactly what #oneteam demands.
The artwork on the wall continues to do the work long after the event ended — a permanent, visible reminder of what the team created together.
“Thanks again for your help with delivering a great event on Friday. The feedback we’re getting about the Big Picture is fantastic! In fact, everyone is so excited about the masterpiece they created that I’m being harassed about when it’s going to be put up.”
Why It Worked
The Principles Behind the Success
The artwork was designed around #oneteam — not a generic design. Every brushstroke reinforced the message the organisation was trying to embed.
Keeping the final design hidden until the reveal created genuine suspense and a shared emotional moment — the kind that people talk about for months.
Painting requires no skill or seniority. Everyone contributed on equal terms — making the #oneteam message feel lived rather than just stated.
The artwork on the wall continues to do the work long after the event ended — a permanent, visible reminder of what the team built together.
Following the success of The Big Picture, Fife Housing Group has continued to work with Team Challenge Company on further team engagement events — building on the trust and understanding developed through this first experience.
