How it works
Teams get to create and construct their dream rocket cars by earning points through a series of team challenges. They must then collaborate on the design, plus decorate banners and promotional materials to support and cheer on their team. Once it’s time for the race, the team line up and prepare to do battle on the drag strip raceway.
When the flag flies, a mechanic pumps air into the rocket that ultimately blasts their car off the starting grid. The winner will land their car closest to the middle of a marked zone at the end of the track. The secret is creating the perfect combination of weight and drag.
Getting participants to work collaboratively like this, under pressure, brings out clear communication, leadership, and project management skills. Creativity and innovation are also in demand, with bonuses for coming up with a catchy team slogan and supporters’ banner. The race itself is a fun, energising, and motivational exercise which enhances team dynamics and unites teams.
