Wednesday saw the Team Challenge Company convoy cross the Kincardine Bridge in anticipation for another Family Fun Day Barbecue. The Parsonage near Airth, played a marvellous host to a long awaited afternoon with over 400 employees and families from Skyscanner.

Following a highly successful similar event last year, we renewed old friendships with Cathy, Suzanne and the rest of the team, who were involved with this fantastic afternoon of fun.

As the coaches began to arrive, families began to pile towards the marvellous array of activities on offer. Of course many of the kids, immediately made their way to the popcorn and candyfloss, and would do so continually throughout the day. With mum and dads fear of them 'spoiling their lunch' becoming ever more a reality, they were quickly ushered along to new pastures! The stupendous summer time aroma of BBQ coals filled the air as the clock struck 1:30pm. An amazing spread of food awaited the ravenous crowd, as they enjoyed some beautiful surroundings, with both the house and marquees sporting beautiful furniture and seated areas, perfect for the masses after a weary week at work.

Falkirk’s finest ‘Northern Star’ was handed the reigns of turning the terraced area into an outdoor festival as the 4 piece took to the stage. They did so with a bang, cracking out hit after hit long into the afternoon. With the sounds of Paul Simon echoing around the marquees, the countdown to our Children’s 1st charity football match was on!

Edinburgh V Glasgow. East V West. Edinburgh looking to wrestle away Glasgow’s stranglehold on the trophy, which was won on penalties just a year previously. The game got off to a physical start, both teams struggling to settle in and put their stamp on the early stages. Jack was a rock at the back for Edinburgh, mopping up any potential Glasgow chances. Bryan, the midfield dynamo was Glasgow’s best hope as his penetrating runs from midfield created some half chances. Pierre squandered perhaps the best chance for Edinburgh after he blazed over the on-rushing Glasgow keeper. Unfortunately it went high over the bar as well. After a hard fought, stale mate it all came down to a penalty shootout! The on looking crowd were biting their nails as the two teams faced off in the cruelest of fashions. A poor show of penalties ensued with Glasgow pipping Edinburgh 1-0 in the shootout. Jack, winning man of the match for Edinburgh for a composed display, didn’t ease the blow of losing out on the top prize. Glasgow would party long into the day and retain the trophy for another year.

It truly was turning into a memorable day. The Bouncy Castles and Assault Course saw more visitors than the nearby kelpies! Kayla was by far the Queen of speed when tackling the obstacles. Our indoor kids section was a winner with the Ball Pool, Golf and Table Tennis proving ever popular. As we approached the end of the day, the charity auction raised well over £1000 for Children 1st. Families winning dream holidays for half the price. Laura won the champagne prize for the races on the Assault Course, defeating Kayla in the final! Scott took home the golf prize with his sister Erin in shooting a two under par round! Some fantastic prizes were also handed to Jose and Peter for their shooting and Ping Pong skills respectively.

An amazing day came to a close at 6pm. Full of fun, prizes and so many highlights. Thanks for the memories. See you all next year.
