The ever spectacular city of Edinburgh played host to our latest GO Team GPS Interactive Treasure Hunt, as over 150 intrepid adventurers from RSM geared up and got ready to go for a fantastic day of team building entertainment in the heart of the city, following on from a fantastic Treasure Hunt in Stirling just over a year ago! The sun shone and basked the streets of Edinburgh in a warm glow, which really set up for a fabulous day for all.

There was much excitement on arrival to the fantastic Hilton Carlton Hotel on North Bridge, as teams of RSM employees from all over Scotland (and the Belfast crew!) began to gather to kick-off their afternoon of team building fun. This year’s GPS Interactive Treasure Hunt would be a little different, as the great city of Edinburgh gave the perfect opportunity to give this year’s event an extra special theme – Trainspotting!  After a quick ‘how to’ briefing session in which our teams got to grips with their tablets, our players raced out the door and on to the busy streets of Edinburgh. Their mission was to find as many GPS checkpoints as possible located around the city, and complete the mix of challenging, tricky, engaging and entertaining team tasks as they do so.

Back at HQ, we had a stream of fantastic answers, ingenious photos and hilarious videos flooding in to us as the teams flew through the checkpoints – our Trainspotting challenges in particular provided entertainment of the highest order! From ingenious re-enactments of the famous opening scene of Ewan McGregor sprinting down world-famous Princess Street, through to rather enchanting versions of the Choose Life speech, the hilarity seemed endless! Bonus twitter challenges too proved well loved, as teams submitted their very best cowboy video impressions… all I can say is wow!

Some bars and pubs were frequented throughout the afternoon, and each of the teams were treated to fantastic lunches by the partners of RSM – just delighted that there was not a ‘Greggs-Gate’ moment for the second year on the trot! Before long it was 3.30pm, and the teams began to trickle back into the Hilton Carlton Hotel, all buzzing from the entertainment that had gone before them. Though we were not done yet, and as the group chatted noisily amongst each other about their adventure, our GPS Interactive Treasure Hunt crew whipped up a storm by presenting the ‘highlights’ from each of the teams as they had trekked across Edinburgh that day, showing of a selection of photos and videos from the trail. This went down to rapturous applause, massive laughter and huge cheers as one by one the teams were picked out…and made a bit of fun of!

Finally, it was time to announce our winners and losers of the day... coming in at last place, with a semi-respectable 1050 points, and taking home the wooden spoon was the Aberdeen Golden Sheep team! We called out all the following teams, who were all well applauded, before we reached our final 3. In Third spot, with a sensational 1920 points, was team Magnificent 7! The top two spots were separated by less than 100 points, with second place going to the ever-charming House of Payne!  But your Trainspotting GPS Treasure Hunt champions, ladies and gentlemen, with a huge 2,350 points and taking home the Team Challenge Company Winner’s Trophy... the unstoppable, Greggsheads!

A massive shout-out and well done to the entire team from RSM on the day, all of whom were fantastic fun to work with and really got into the competitive spirit of our Edinburgh Trainspotting GPS Interactive Treasure Hunt. A special mention and big thank you must go to Gemma, Jean and Alan for all their hard work in pulling the event together… you all did a fantastic job, and very much hope the entire team from RSM had a wonderful day with us, and look forward to seeing you all again soon for the rematch.

Another fantastic day with a great bunch from RSM - always fun, always enthusiastic and always mega-competitive! My personal highlights from the day are perhaps too rude to mention here, but lets just say I was dishing out looooads of bonus points as my message inbox filled up! A pleasure as always to work with Alan, Gemma and Jean, I really hope all from RSM enjoyed their time with us, and very much looking forward to the rematch!
