Friday saw the much anticipated return of the fabled Indoor Crystal Challenge team building event. 24 lucky employees from Asra Housing Group were split into 4 teams all trying to take away the greatest prize of all, the Team Challenge Company Winner’s Trophy. The Best Western Stage Hotel in Leicester played an accommodating host to a group of fun loving people who loved competition, but loved winning even more! The Pink Panthers were hoping to solve a few team building mysteries on the way to the top. The Green Goddesses certainly had style but did they have substance? Could Red Red Wine toast a victory at the end of the day? Or could Blue Movies put in an excellent run of victories on their way to glory? Time would indeed tell.

The Green Goddesses were blessed with divine intervention as they bagged the first crystal early doors for best team name. The teams, hungry for action, set out to stake an early claim for the trophy with an exhilarating and action packed first round, The Balloon Tower awaited. After a few confrontations and sabotage attempts, mostly by the Blue Movies, everyone did themselves proud by building some awe inspiring structures. Red Red Wine showed no signs of a hangover and towered over the competition! 6ft 11 was the tale of the tape. Off the mark early! The Pink Panthers and Blue Movies were neck and neck as they went toe to toe at NASA and had to take home a share of the points. A thrilling 14 all draw in the final result. The Pink Panthers continued their early promise at Interlocker where they won yet again. Hayley stepped up for the first individual challenge of the day and outclassed some bigger and stronger competitors at Nail the Wood. Blue Movies surging in confidence also won the Drop Zone as they replaced The Pink Panthers as the new favourites. Scrambled Egg was up next where all apart from Red Red Wine failed to parachute their egg safely. The 16 foot drop taking its toll! Another crystal in the bag for them!

After the lunch break Blue Movies picked up where they left off with a passionate and rowdy performance on the Big Screen Games. Red Red Wine toppled their way to another crystal on the Blind Man’s Buff challenge with a silent but deadly show of skill. All teams struggled to cope with the tricky nature of the Labyrinth and Puzzles as they knew a good ending to the day would be key to success. Were there a shred of nerves creeping into the camp? The Green Goddesses were inches away from a crystal on the Buzz Off, while Bat the Rat proved to be it's ever illusive self. Even a bonus round could not convince the adorable rodent to relinquish a crystal so easily. Crane Construction saw The Blue Movies and Pink Panthers hoist their weight and trophy chances to the top of the pile with a sterling attempt. Bridge Build was the last chance to win not one but two bonus crystals before entering the Crystal Dome. The Red Red Wines faltered badly at the final hurdle with a badly constructed crossing. The Blue Movies and rally driver Jim soared to another crystal haul with ease as they drove over confidently.

It was finale times as each team one by one entrusted one member to grab the cash inside our lucrative Crystal Dome. They all grabbed their hearts out with Lindsey even sporting a bum bag anorak style bag for the reds. After all was said and done and after a boisterous and frenetic final play the scores were recorded and prizes given out. The Wooden Spooner’s were The Green Goddesses who never really got going on £360. In third place was Red Red Wine who paid the price for a mediocre second part of the day on £440. The Pink Panthers reached the lofty heights of second with £480 but the big winners were The Blue Movies who grabbed a massive £720. A hard fought and well deserved victory. Another fantastic crystal challenge. Thank you so much to Kate for organising such a fantastic day. We hope to see you all again soon.
